Okmulgee County Democratic Party Chair, Kent King  will be officiating a meeting for county democrats to make plans for the upcoming party conventions and officer elections this Tuesday, Feb 3^rd in the Seminar Room at Green Country Technology Center.

The  Oklahoma Democratic Party structure begins with the election of precinct officers in the spring of each odd numbered year.  This year the precinct meetings and elections will be held on March 12^th as mandated by the state party constitution and bylaws.  Then those precinct officers along with the elected officials belonging to the party in the county and legislative districts will be the delegates to the county convention to be held on April 4^th.

At the county convention, the three party officers: Chair, Co-Chair, and Secretary will be elected to serve for the next two years.  A number of elected delegates will also be elected to represent the county party along with the elected county officers  at both the congressional district convention and the state convention to be held on May 2^nd and May 16^th respectively.

Another function of the county, district and state conventions is to formulate and vote on resolutions that will serve to express the philosophy and guide the direction of the party for the next two years.
